The Festival of Wood invites open applications to the 8th Industrial Design Competition.
We look for: Functional, modern wooden piece
»Most of us imagine forest as an oasis of peace and relaxation. A sound of rustling leaves, birds singing, pleasant forest scents relax and calm us. The question is whether a carefully designed piece of nature in the form of wood can create a feeling of homeliness and connection with nature?”
So far 180 authors have participated at the international design contest (Primal) chair. They come from Slovenia, France, Serbia, Ukraine, Mexico, Italy, Croatia, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, Taiwan, Kuwait, China, Iran, Poland, Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, Montenegro, Hungary, Canada, Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Peru, Brazil, United Kingdom, Russia, Netherlands, Colombia, Mexico. 21 prototypes are the result of the past 7 contests. In the year 2017 the three awarded prototypes were promoted within the 25th Bienale of design (BIO 25) in Ljubljana.

72 contestants for Prastol applied for the competition. There were 10 applicants from Slovenia, India 7 applicants, Italy 6, Serbia 5, France 4, Hungary 4, Russia 3, Hong Kong 2, Sweden 2, Philippines 2, Brazil 2, Kuwait 1, China 1, Iran 1, Poland 1 , Montenegro 1, Canada 1, Vietnam 1, Croatia 1, Nepal 1, Ukraine 1, Thailand 1, United Arab Emirates 1, Peru 1, United Kingdom 1, Netherlands 1, Ukraine 1, Colombia 1, Mexico 1. Top three winners both from India, Canada in the Philippines. The selection of chairs took place on 3.9.2021. The jury consisted of 6 professional members. Members of the expert commission as follows: prof. Janez Suhadolc - architect, Rok Kuhar - architect and industrial designer, Natalija Lapajne - museum of architecture and design, Andrej Palman - ing. woodworking, doc.
