Primal chair 2019

The Primaire Chair

Designers: Matko Plovanič in Stefan Vidović, Hrvaška

The Primaire Chair by the authors Matko Plovanić and Stefan Vidović represents an example of a design that is inspired by tradition. The reinterpretation of an original way of connecting wooden rods that were connected by elastic branches formed a simple but efficient way of stabilization. With the primaire concept, the authors replace the junction with modern designed conjunction that is paraphrased through an innovative approach into a simple but efficient detail.

A clear composition of the chair consists of drilled wooden rods, a curved back lean, and a massive sitting surface. Together with modern joining parts they make a surprisingly stable construction scheme of a chair. The respect for the cultural heritage of their ancestors has given life to a simple chair with emphasized junctions. They designed a modern chair with an original and memorable form that persuaded the expert jury.

The Chair Daska

Designer: Snežana Jeremić, Srbija

The Daska Chair by the author Snežana Jeremić is much more than a chair. In the composition, we do not perceive the usual stiffness that is typical of almost all multipurpose objects. The grid is elegant and stable at the same time. Putting small planks into slots that are precisely cut into the massive grid at different spots or heights makes it possible for children as well as someone who sits at the higher counter.

With a simple reposition of small planks into another position, the chair can easily change into a ladder, small table, footstool, or else more.

The expert jury was persuaded with a precisely imagined design concept that skillfully keeps its proportionate form although the positions of planks differ. It is excellent due to its multifunctionality that reduces the need to buy objects with another function and thus shows the thought about environment protection.

The Primeval chair

Designer: Luna Apollonia, Italija

The chair with the name Primeval chair by the author Luna Apollonia.

In the composition intertwining of wood, we do not perceive a usual number of chair legs, clear back and hand lean, but its presence itself indicates a chair that calls for sitting down and testing it.

The author lines vertical and horizontal wooden elements, one by one, or one above the other in different directions and connects them skillfully. With a careful and thoughtful directing she puts them into a closed loop that represents an archetype of a chair.
